Astrup Fearnley and Munch Musuem

We took the subway out to the Munch Museum. It was a real treat to see so much of his work all in one place, grouped in phases. The progression through  the galleries over several floors builds up a very emotionally charged experience, and it feels a bit exposed and wierd to emerge back into the park outside on a normal Oslo afternoon.  Used Oslo pass to the max, next visited new contemporary museum....

Great building on the waterfront, difficult to photograph but cool to walk around and within... Designed by Renzo Piano .

Damien Hirst's stuff was actually a really impressive spectacle

Sigma Polke is a fave of mine but have only ever seen photos, fantastic to see the real thing... 2m x 3m all poured resin, from the 60s

Oslo

Catch a tiger by the tail... Every child and Murray wanted to play with the tiger outside the central railway station

We stayed with Olé out across the harbour at Nesodden, on the tip of the peninsula. The first  airbnb place we've had where the host lives at their home and you are with them as a guest. He invited us to join him and some friends, who'd sailed across from Oslo for the weekend and moored down below, for dinner, grilled over a charcoal fire on the rocks.

One living space for lounge, studio, dining and office, It's quite dreamy!

Looking back across to Oslo, ferry terminal is just below

Walked around the next few bays...

It's only 20 mins on the ferry to Oslo. These new buildings near the opera house caused contention as they were too conspicuous on the waterfront. Locals call them 'The Barcode'

It's very cool walking up on the roof of the opera house with views out over the harbour. It's all layered, textured marble, faceted like a huge glacier.

The harbour is very beautiful with a wonderful array of ships

Loving it in Lund

It was quite exciting to visit Lund where Sarah / Constance was at uni for a year. It's a cool place. You're more likely to make way for troupes of pushbikers than for cars as you amble down the middle of the cobbled streets. It's a real university town, full of academia - students gathered in crowds in full O week costumes to professors in leather elbowed cardis on vintage bikes.
We met up with Tornjiorn ('Swedish John', so named for the rambling nature if his house and gardens), at his stall at the markets. He is an organic vege farmer whom Constance worked/woofed for while at uni. He is really lovely.

Very cool astrological clock in the Lund Cathedral, made before Columbus' time.

The lovely Grand Hotel, $1500 a night, where  we didnt stay... but had a delicious breakfast

Cool bar where we reminisced student days and dreamed 'what ifs'...we had studied here? What would we be now? Etcetera. Tried to viber Constance to share the moment but she was hard at work! Not like the council days when she was quick to answer her phone.

Botanical gardens were themed, medicinal plants, etc, all transferred from ancient gardens. Great bramble patch with burstingly ripe blackberries.
