Phuket

Arrived in Phuket on Monday to a hot and steamy afternoon. By error or good luck (not sure which) upgraded to Business Class so had nice lunch on board plane and acres of leg room. Found a place to stay on arrival at Kata Beach...it's ok in a kind of tired 1980's/ Somerset Maughan way. The beach is pretty good  with bath temp water and nice body surfing waves. The recent cyclone in the Bay of Bengal has stirred things up a bit but should settle over next  day or two. We have no fixed plans until we fly back to Kuala Lumpur so  and will try to stay in a few interesting sounding places during the next ten days.
