Lake and a Castle at Bled

Our own private bus from the village into Bled. It is almost as wide as the road.

I like the way the Begonias are blood red!

The famous only island in Slovenia

Bled Castle built in about 1077 on a huge rock face up over the lake

View from the castle

The castle chapel added in 1600s

Frescoes

Jewellery in the castle museum

Bronze tools found in a cache in the lake

View from the tiny toilet window, the toilet is a seat projected out over the cliff

Glass beads from 1000-ish

A perfect night with 360 degree surveillance over the lands below...

There is a restaurant with tables right next to the castle wall and we couldn't resist so we had dinner here, and it was really good. Wild food, Murray had wild pig and I had deer.

Castle lit up as it grew dark as we walked back down through town to the bus.
