Bath

We are  back aboard a train again this time heading for Bath having dumped our wee Citroen, which we did become quite attached to in the end, at Bodmin Parkway, a station in the midst of a forest like something straight out of the 'Railway Children'. The countryside is glistening green after this morning's rain, the cutting sides festooned with wild flowers and a type of mauve flowered rhododendron which grows here prolifically. The land  is suprisingly  devoid of people considering there are some 90 million humans out there somewhere. Even this train has only a handful of passengers, it is Sunday so maybe they are all at church or still in bed.
Found a beautiful old house with a room left, (thank-you late-rooms) a little loft room, three flights of stairs up, very cute with its own fireplace. View over the city and garden with huge patches of crimson peonies in bloom.
Wonderful dinner out tonight at Sotto Sotto, Italian, in some old storage cellars, softly lit stone arched roof. Heaven on earth food, veal escalope layered with aubergine, Palma ham and fresh mozzarella in a tomato/ wine sauce, clam, mussel and prawn risotto, profiteroles filled with white chocolate cream with a limoncello zabaglione sauce. This is to sustain us for five days cruising in a canal boat that we embark on tomorrow.
